The Art of Making Agate Jewelry

I create each piece of natural Agate jewelry by collecting my own beach Agates on the Olympic Peninsula, which can vary in different colors and patterns. I take the Agate home where I cut and polish it. After polishing the Agate, I craft a design for a unique piece of jewelry. Then begins the metalsmithing process of hand sawing, soldering, texturing, stone setting and more. It's a time intensive process to ensure that your jewelry is high quality and long-lasting.

    About Agate

Agate is a variety of Chalcedony, a type of micro-crystalline Quartz, and has a hardness of 6.5 to 7 on the Mohs scale, making it a very durable semi-precious stone for jewelry. Agate can be found in an array of colors and patterns of bands and orbs, making each one unique. It's found in areas with volcanic activity so it is fairly abundant in Washington State. Agate is associated with the Earth element, bringing emotional stability and confidence to the wearer, and is the perfect secondary birthstone for the month of May.
