The Metalsmithing Process

I create my gemstone and sterling silver jewelry using a hand saw, jewelers torch and various hand tools such as hammers and texturing stamps. A lot of details are involved in metalsmithing, like sawing, sanding, soldering, cleaning, oxidizing, stone setting and more. Each piece of metal jewelry has a unique process, depending on style and intricacy. The metal smithing process is a relatively slow craft for me since I want each piece to be well made and durable! Jewelry prices are calculated by time and materials to ensure I can continue to run my small business efficiently and make high quality pieces.

Natural Gemstones of the Pacific Northwest

Inspired by nature, Woodland Metalsmith jewelry is created with Pacific Northwest gemstones that I collect from beaches and river beds of the Olympic Peninsula in Washington State. I cut and polish these gemstones for focal jewelry and to set into sterling silver. Some of the amazing stones I find are Banded Agates, a variety of Jasper, lush green Epidote, Quartz and even Moonstone. Rock hounding is a huge passion of mine so I'm happy that I can incorporate it into my jewelry to make it extra unique!

How do I Clean Metal Jewelry?

Metal jewelry care is easy! Your jewelry already comes coated in a high quality lacquer to preserve the luster of the metal and prevent oxidation. Keep your jewelry dry to maintain the coating, and use a polishing cloth if the metal starts to look dull.
