Jasper is an opaque variety of Chalcedony, a type of micro-crystalline Quartz mixed with other minerals, and has a hardness of 6.5 to 7 on the Mohs scale, making it a very durable gemstone. Jasper can be found in an array of colors and patterns, making each one unique. It's found in areas with volcanic activity so it is fairly abundant in Washington State. Jasper is associated with the Earth element, bringing calmness and grounding to the wearer, and is the perfect secondary birthstone for the month of March and the Zodiac sign Aries.

There are many, many varieties of Jasper all over the world. With that said, I usually find Ocean Jasper, Orbicular Jasper, Picture Jasper and solid color Jaspers.
Each and every piece of Jasper is hand collected by me on beaches in Washington. I take the stones to my studio and then cut and polish them into cabochons!

I usually work with solid copper, however sometimes I work with sterling silver and brass.
I try to accommodate people with sensitive skin since I also have sensitive skin. Earring hooks are made with niobium and are ultra hypoallergenic. For pendants, I use polyester cords and stainless steel chains for sensitive skin. All the metal is coated to help prevent tarnishing as well.
Aries, Scorpio and Capricorn signs all share Jasper as a secondary birthstone. Red Jasper especially for Aries.
